Here at Atchley Farm, our goal is to have a space for our customers to get to know who grows their food and how it's grown. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to take charge of their role in the food cycle, and that starts with choice.
Our Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is the option for customers to purchase vegetables from the farm on a prepaid basis. We offer Summer and Winter CSAs. Our Summer CSA runs from late spring into late summer, with varying packages providing different amounts of vegetables. Our Winter CSA runs from mid-fall into early winter.
It is our goal to provide you with the best variety of produce each week of your chosen CSA package. However, farming is subject to Mother Nature herself, and some produce may not meet our standards due to extreme weather, insect damage, being eaten by wildlife, or other production factors despite our best efforts. When signing up for our CSA, you are agreeing to take part in the risk of crop failure with us, other members of the CSA. In the event of this happening, our procedures are below:
If only a small portion of crops fail, we will take those off the list of being provided, and will have other crops that we are growing available for that CSA week. If in an extreme case of crop failure, we may not be able to supply any product in some weeks.
While we do sell at markets and some wholesale, CSA takes priority. Anything left over after CSA has been fulfilled, we then sell at markets or wholesale.
As a CSA member, you are responsible for picking up your own CSA allotment from the designated pickup locations, which will be explained in an email sent out to paid CSA members before the first pickup date. Members are expected to provide their own bags or boxes to take their vegetables home. We do have a strict "No Call No Show" policy. In the event that you are unable to pick up your CSA and you do not let us know, your CSA allotment will be donated to a local food bank. If you are unable to pick up, you must let us know to schedule alternate pickup times. In the event that you need a family member or friend to pick up your CSA, you are responsible for explaining to them the location, time, and date of your scheduled pickup.
All members will receive a Welcome Email at the start of their CSA that will explain pickup locations, times, and procedures in detail. In the email, we will also provide how to communicate with us throughout your CSA experience. Please understand that the above parameters are not to hinder your CSA experience with us, but to allow us, your farmers, to have a well-balanced work/home life, while we grow your food and our young family.
By electronically signing above, I agree to purchase the membership CSA as indicated. I understand that, although unlikely, the farm may change parts of its agreement related to production and distribution from time to time. I understand that they will contact me via email in advance of any changes to this agreement. I also understand the no-refund policy associated with the CSA.
We do not offer a CSA refund. This is due to the fact that the funds that are collected from the CSA are used to purchase seeds, amendments, compost, and any other upfront costs associated with the current growing season.
If you are unsure of purchasing our CSA and wish to ask us for more information on our farming practices and how our CSA works. Please email us at atchleyfamilyfarm@gmail.com. We will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have or schedule a phone interview with us.
